Waypoint Education grew out of a simple observation: families posted abroad — whether with the US government or a multinational company — struggle to find consistent, high-quality academic support for their children. We set out to fix that.
Waypoint Education began as DOS Tutors — a tutoring platform purpose-built for US State Department employees and their families posted abroad. State Department families face a unique educational challenge: frequent moves between countries, interrupted schooling, and inconsistent access to quality tutoring in time zones that don't align with US-based services.
DOS Tutors solved this by building a network of university-student tutors available across all time zones — matched to each child's grade level, subject needs, and schedule. Sessions are delivered virtually, DSSR-reimbursable through the State Department's education allowance, and documented for reimbursement from day one.
Today, DOS Tutors operates as a dedicated program within Waypoint Education — serving State Department families at posts worldwide while the broader Waypoint platform extends the same infrastructure to corporate expat families, international students, domestic US families, and underserved communities.
